The first article brought to us by socialmediatoday.com Is talking all about Google, our favorite search engine, who is launching a new video series to help businesses maximize their digital video marketing opportunities. The article written by Andrew Hutchinson says that Google is launching a new video series designed to help marketers get a better understanding of key opportunities and trends and provide updates on relevant Google ad products and tools to help maximize reach and response. And this seems like something that is very much in line with our current blog #trending in video, helping all sorts of digital marketers maximize the reach of their video content and help to develop new relevant video content strategies to help reach new audiences. As explained by Google, in our newest video series, The Update, which they are calling it Google video marketing leaders and industry experts are going to look at what the latest data that can reveal about the current climate and what your business needs to know right now along with the best methods and newest products to help you adapt to this new normal.

The article continues that with so much disruption right now, The Update is going to help marketers make better use of digital ad tools available, which includes video with insights from product experts in analytics, Google ads search and more. The first episode of the update is going to launch early in June and it's going to be an interesting, particularly given the relative complexity of Google's various marketing options. SEO or search engine optimization for example, is very difficult to get your head around, but it could be hugely beneficial as well. It is interesting that in this new digital marketing age with the increased importance on video and video content in which we launched our own videography trending blog that Google has decided to release its own video series aimed to do exactly what we are doing, which is how businesses maximize through digital video marketing opportunities.

The second article we are looking at today from our good friends over at digital trends is talking all about Instagram and music in their live videos. The title of the article is Instagram gets smarter about copyrighted music in live videos. We already know how Facebook live is growing exponentially during the coronavirus crisis and it also appears that Instagram live is experiencing similar market growth. Instagram said this week that increased interest in live video streaming has created some confusion in its community when it comes to including artist's music. At this current time, if someone plays our particular music track for too long in a video live stream, associated licensing agreements means there's a really good chance that it's going to be suddenly muted or blocked if it plays the music beyond a specific time limit. That's incredibly annoying for the person broadcasting the video as well as anybody else watching the video live online. In an effort to minimize such interruptions, Instagram recently announced the changes to the way it alerts alive user when the system detects that a broadcast or uploaded video might include music in a way that does not necessarily adhere to its licensing agreements. If you're broadcasting a live video, a notification will now be displayed in good time, which will give you a chance to adjust your stream to avoid interruptions in your live video that a sudden loss of sound can cause. Basically it's saying that people watching a live video stream are going to be annoyed if a video is suddenly muted or cut off and so Instagram is going to let the video content creators know well enough ahead of time so that they can adjust the videos that they are broadcasting live to avoid an interruption. Instagram also says that moving forward if a video is muted or a video is even blocked, it'll help explain more clearly to the video broadcaster the actions that can be taken to avoid any unwelcome disruption in the video stream.

The third article we are talking about today is 13 the video marketing stats and trends that are shaking up content strategies today and this is from our friends rosssimmonds.com. The author of the article was recently asked a question is a video the future of communications? They note it is a fair question to ask with all the recent developments in social shaking up the industry. Linkedin recently announced they are now going to support video in their feeds and Instagram stories has already surpassed Snapchat for more monthly active users and Facebook video is also quickly becoming a competitor to YouTube and Vimeo. To you put it quite simply be world of social video is heating up with increased competition across the internet.

So while video is going to increasingly become important in social media, you should keep yourself familiar with all of the different types of format that digital communications will take in the future. The author of the article has a hard time suggesting that the future of marketing is video 100% but they believe that video marketing is one of the most important and fastest growing trends in social media and digital marketing at the moment. So perhaps a better question would be, what does the future of video look like today in comparison to the past?

Here are a few video trends that are currently shaking up the video industry. 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound. That is something that we talked about recently on the blog post as a way to help develop your video content strategy to utilize text and more graphics than necessarily sound in your video. Facebook videos have increased 360% across everyone's newsfeeds and millennials prefer YouTube to TV by nearly two times. Linkedin is also investing in video.

When you take those recent video trends and combine them with more macro trends around the globe, you also see that data usage on wireless devices is on the rise. It's easy to get excited about the potential when you think about video content and how brands start including it in their digital marketing campaigns. There are many different ways brands can leverage Instagram video stories, but you should go beyond the temporary videos and live video streams on channels like Periscope or Instagram live. Between Netflix, streaming, branded clips on Facebook and DVRs, cable TV networks are in trouble. The metrics are showing that unfortunately the writing is on the wall. If you have a Facebook page with videos and you are not adding captions to your videos, this author suggests that you are missing out. You need to invest in creating online videos, captions for people to watch while the audio is turned off so they can consume the content in bed without waking their spouse. By offering a second way to consume your video, it's a great way to drive more content and ensure a longer viewing time captions. Also allow people with hearing impairments to consume your video content and get the same entertainment and insights from the videos that you have created.

You also need to cross promote your video content across all video platforms. Youtube has dominated the video space for years, but sites like Vimeo are slowly chipping away at their dominant market share. Facebook is now the biggest player that YouTube has to worry about in terms of video marketing. Facebook invest even more time and resources in searchable video libraries and video assets found that Facebook will be more important than they are today. Facebook is continuing to grow their video technologies and improve the platform and using it will increase the opportunity you have to reach your target audience.

On YouTube alone, there are 81 million videos available for viewing and that's 81 million different videos that you are going to have to compete with for your audience's attention. If you're thinking that simply uploading the video and walking away is going to be a valid distribution strategy, you are in for a rude awakening when you realize your video views are stuck in single digits. Once you start recognizing the importance of video content distribution, you need to apply that to all aspects of your video content strategy.
