#trending in video - April 17, 2020

Hello there! And welcome back to issue number 2 of our newest blogging endeavor at Best Made Videos®, #trending in video. This is an easy (and hopefully fun) way to keep you informed of all the newest trends in videography, video production, editing, online marketing, and everything in-between!

Today we are checking out a recent article from our friends over at Inc.com as they talk about 4 important video marketing trends for 2020. They pose the question, “What video trends will your brand take advantage of this year?” and hopefully we can provide some good answers / solution for you.

All the way back in 2015, Harvard Business Review reported that over 50% of businesses were already implementing video into their marketing strategies and they expected over 60% to do so in the near future. This points to not only the past importance of video in your marketing approach, but also how important it will be moving into the future.

They state that "Video content gives users more to work with. It takes static content and transforms it into interactive content that’s fun to digest and easy to consume. For these reasons and more, it’s quickly becoming many consumers’ favorite way to interact with brands online.” We at Best Made Videos® couldn’t agree more. It’s my firm belief that every single online website no matter what brand or industry, should have a front page explainer video talking about who the company is, what the company does, and why the consumer should hire that specific company. We work with brands of all shapes and sizes through all sorts of industries to provide them the video solutions that best fit their specific needs.

This article talks about having “shoppable videos”, videos that you can post on Instagram and Snapchat that link to external websites. Having videos like this make it easy for the consumer to shop and purchase if they so chose. They talk about video marketing being an easy way to grab the attention of a consumer, and show them what your brand has to offer. “Making the buying process as simple as possible (through the use of video) for online shoppers will increase your sales and attract new customers.”

No video marketing article would be complete without talking about the growing use of “vlogging” in trying to attract online consumers. The article notes that vlogging is quickly becoming an essential video marketing technique, because the viewers are more easily able to identify with the brand, and therefore earning their trust. They talk about using video to build strong customer relationships from the beginning, and retaining that throughout the entire shopping process.

Another important topic they touch on is personalization in terms of the marketing videos that a company chooses to send out. You need to tailor your video marketing message to the specific consumer your are trying to reach. You definitely don’t want to confuse your audience, so make sure you are only sending the specifically tailor videos that you have do you don’t send mixed messages.

Interactive videos are another great way to promote your business and drive sales. Whether it’s through email, social media or another other medium at your disposal, interactive videos are great because it requires the viewer’s full attention, which in turn keeps them engaged for longer and makes it easier to convince them to take action. Some specific video types they mention are 360 degree videos, branching videos and the use of hotspots where “users can click and interact with the video in more detail.” They mention “Interactive videos are also great for businesses because they’re trackable and can provide valuable user data for future marketing strategies. Marketers can analyze insightful metrics such as the paths users take, dwell times, skips, rewatches and more.”

In conclusion the biggest takeaway this article has is that everyone needs to leverage video trends to boost sales. There are a seemingly endless ways to leverage video to build a loyal viewership online, each specific company or brand just needs to figure out the best way that works for them. Using video, they argue, can take your business to the next level of success are you attract more customers for years to come.
