#trending in video - April 24, 2020

Hello there and happy Friday! I want to welcome you back to #trending in video. This is our way at Best Made Videos® to keep you informed on all things trending in the world of videography and video production.

Today we are taking a look at an interesting new article that we discovered over at www.techkrest.com talking all things digital marketing. With COVID-19 wrecking our past perceptions of what is considered “normal” this article aims to uncover 5 digital marketing video trends to “dial up” in uncertain times.

One curious thought to ponder in this age of “stay home and stay safe” is that in some regards digital video marketing is busier and more important than ever. “In this quarantine, everything is changed, except for the digital marketers. In fact, it won’t be forged to say that in this pandemic situation, digital marketers have been overloaded with work.” This article notes that even though they might be busier than ever, digital marketers still need to tread carefully in this unprecedented time as the routine of their target audience might have shifted as well as what they are looking for with everything else going on in the world.

They list 5 key things to focus on in terms of video marketing in order to keep up with the changing times. Personal marketing, customer engagement, customer-centric posts, voice search facility and video marketing as the key tasks to focus on in this ever-changing COVID-19 world.

This first and most interesting point that they bring up when it comes to creating your video content in March/April of 2020 is this - “Gone are the days when your customers did not have enough time to see your messages or emails. The entire world is in quarantine now. So, feel free to opt for the personal marketing because it’s trending in this pandemic.” So much of the time we as marketers are worried about getting the most information out in the shortest amount of time. Even as a video creator I’m constantly being asked how to trim down the video length to combat the ever-shrinking attention span of out target viewer. This article believes that customers are waiting to receive messages or emails from brands they trust during this uncertain time because it tells to them that those businesses are willing to serve them in the quarantine. “If you think that you are capable enough to do this or even if you want your customers to know about your upcoming launch then this is the right time to promote. Everyone is all free to pay attention to you.” Not to say that you should jump the gun if you are not able to provide the services you normally do during the worldwide quarantine, but I do believe there is something to be said for continuing “business as normal” even during times such as we are currently in.

A broad but certainly understandable point this article notes is that “ Your audience has nothing to do in this quarantine. Ok, they are all set to invest their time anywhere or anything which sounds or look interesting. Why not to use this opportunity and increase your conversion rates?” Although I wouldn’t say that EVERYone is open to ANY sort of messaging right now that a video or content creator might want to convey, I DO think that people might take a longer first or second look at posts that you might be creating during this time period. They believe that this is the perfect time to integrate all of your regular customer engagement techniques to start creating relevant and interesting posts and videos for you customer to consume.

They mention that even though right now might not be the best time to launch a brand, you should start taking tactical steps to promote your brand or business. Start filming video content, stockpile a bunch of blogs or instagram posts, work on promoting your brand to reach the maximum audience so when everything lifts you are ready to strike.

One thing I haven’t thought nearly enough about is voice search facility. They mention how the quarantine has basically made everyone become lazy, and the trend of voice searching is at an all time high. Getting transcriptions of your videos or captions for SEO purposes is a great way to raise your video content game to the next level. Little tricks like this should get you in an excellent place to not only succeed now, but also in the future as we approach whatever this “new normal” is going to be.

The last tip they mention, video marketing, is something that is even more important when people are currently sitting around, trying to tick off hours in the day. They note that people have literally nothing to do but use the internet 24/7 so you have to do more than play with words to garner their attention, you have to use videography and video content as well. “There was a time when you used to seek the attention of audience and aim to have at least few minutes from their hectic schedule. Now, it’s your turn to consume all their time via implementing ingenious marketing techniques. Go with the video marketing and oh, in this uncertain situation you can even have emotional connection with your audience, via video marketing.”

There you have it for our latest issue of #trending in video. I hope you learned a trick or two or maybe just some good ideas to implement into your video content creation schedule moving forward. Thanks again and stay safe everyone! Take care!!
