#trending in video - May 18, 2020

Hey everybody, welcome to #trending in video. This is the newest blog brought to you by us over here at Best Made Videos®. In this blog, we scour the internet looking for all sorts of fun tips and tricks in the world of videography and video production and certainly hopeful that some of these things can be applied to your business and your video content strategy. Today we are looking at a bunch of interesting articles. The first is from our friends at Small Business Trends, the second is from Inc42 the third is from iHLS and the fourth is from Digital Trends.

The first video topic we wanted to talk about today from smallbusinesstrends.com is a $100,000 video ad campaign could be yours and this is something that I've seen floating around online the last couple of weeks. A marketing company that does a lot of viral videos, the Harmon brothers, they're giving away a hundred thousand dollar video ad campaign. It says, if you've seen their ads online, it's a good chance you've experienced their innovative video approach to advertising. They are the masterminds behind the Squatty Potty Chat Books, Fiber Fix, Poo Pourri, Purple Mattress and many more. And they're saying that during this pandemic, it's a chance to have the video marketing experts like the Harmon brothers work on your brand. And it's a great way to let people know that you are still around. They're calling this the a hundred thousand dollars Poop to Gold giveaway and it is up and running until May 22nd so make sure you submit your entry and try your luck. The grand prize winner is going to be announced on June 26th and they note that the total value is going to be at more than $180,000 there will be 10 semi-finalists and five finalists who get 25,000 and $70,000 of valuable advice and coaching.

And the reason why I wanted to bring this up, first of all is mostly just the fact that a hundred thousand dollars video ad campaign is certainly something that strikes my interest and will get my attention in the headlines. But also it's important on two other notes. The first is that the Harmon brothers are really capitalizing on the stay at home marketplace that they have right now and are trying to tailor a giveaway to suit those who might want to figure out some new video content or figure out a new video strategy but don't necessarily know where to start and so they are going to try to give their video expertise to one lucky winner to hopefully kind of help adjust and modify their video content strategy moving forward. The other is to just keep in mind that even if you are stuck at home right now, it is important to continue to build upon your business and brand and that could be producing new videos or tweaking the videos that you already have or just developing new strategies to move forward with producing videos in the future. Once we get out of this lockout.

The second article we're talking about from Inc42 is five business to business marketing trends during lockdowns and outlook post-covid and this is going to be kind of them talking about a bunch of different marketing trends right now and and some of these relate to videography and video production and some are just going to be general good practices for attracting clients online. They note that there is obviously a sharp rise in the screen time on smartphones right now and that this is the right time to invest in paid video, digital advertising and automation on platforms. They're talking about how virtual on demand events and other video content are going to grow significantly and so that's making sure that even if you have events in the future that you make sure there is some sort of live streaming video component so that people are able to watch and feel like they're taking part. Whether they were able to make it there or not. They know that COVID-19 is an unprecedented event none of us have ever experienced in the past. It is a grand and all encompassing. It has affected 200 countries at once and it has necessitated that the price of doing the same old thing in the new normal is going to be detrimental. Therefore according to them and to me in fact now is the time to slow down and take stock about what went wrong and what went right from marketing in the past decade.

They talking about social distancing and remote work being normalized too, curb future case outbreaks and because of this consumer patterns are going to change significantly. They're talking about reducing marketing budgets and that could be any sort of marketing from video production or video content, but just marketing in general and that people are going to need to be smarter about where they are spending their money and they are going to need to be more innovative. And that relates not only to the videos that you're going to produce, but also just to how you're going to reach out to your target demographic.

According to a survey that they quote, 17% of companies did not survive the last recession in 2008. With a sharp cut in marketing across the board, discretionary spends are not usually welcome anymore. They note that in India, a report came out that 53% of startups have already cut discretionary marketing spends in March of 2020 and that's not necessarily just on video that could be superfluous spending that they were making in the past that they are trying to refocus in the future. They say from a longterm perspective, things are going to change on the marketing front as far as budgets are concerned. Putting high focus on top funnel marketing and converging both marketing and communications ideas. This is going to put off a lot of marketers aiming for revenue from the bottom funnel. But as things clear up as a mark of success for businesses and clients, these times are going to warrant that marketers soften their sales pitch and hard to call actions. And that's basically just letting the consumer make the decisions for themselves and not necessarily hard driving those perspectives down on them.

They note not undermining the scope of generating revenue events, webinars and eBooks will gain momentum in this post-covid world. And on the talent side, steep technology, adoption, human resilience, professional experience are going to be among the most valuable things and commodities in this frugal new world. So what is going to change for business to business marketing? You're going to have to put your old strategy on the back burner and create a fresh one and this might be taxing. Sudden working from home mandates have left a lot of people in limbo from a networking perspective and they're trying to figure out the best way to stay connected and also feel like you're alongside your coworkers, even while being at home. They talk about on demand niche video content. This is a big bold topic that they bring up, if you have been dillydallying, this is the time to commit to video. Agile times are going to require agile methods and given the recent cancellations of in person activities, it is time to create quality content with revenue generation opportunities for yourselves. They talk right in here in the article about budgeting for experienced video professionals editing and automation software and that is certainly something that we like to hear over here at Best Made Videos®. You need to align your operations fulfill team with marketing to create insightful niche topic led video content that is going to be crisp and sharp and this goes back again to focusing your video content strategy to the audience are trying to capture. You need to leverage brand equity to reflect specific services and align them to trending topics. They balance here the organic versus paid marketing. Organic is usually the goto method for business and business marketing. Now a spike in web traffic on short formats, videos, news and entertainment content is going to be a way to generate revenue. They know on the other side, is this also the right time to start testing lead generation digital advertising. According to a report from PGA labs, which is India's digital ads penetration is expected to reach 32% by 2022 this percentage will multiply in the post-covid scenario and due to decreased competition for bids, ads are going to be cheaper and ROI is increased. That means that with people being more discretionary about their video marketing ad spends, ads are going to be cheaper and so hopefully you're going to have a higher return on investment for those video ads that you are producing.

Email marketing is also going to be key in this post-covid world, that's the direct link between your clients and prospect network. They say you should be upgrading your audience and email limits on your mailbox right now in the slow season. Investing in email marketing platforms can be helpful as a way to hook most audiences and focusing on timely responses is going to be the differentiator for brands. They note a keen focus on sharing insights, video tutorials and educational content can save the day day for the business business marketing. You need to exercise caution that you're not overwhelming your audience with more than two to three email communications per month with softer call to actions.

E-networking is the last big thing they bring up here talking about how all conferences and events are being canceled until future notice and you are going to need to focus on live streaming or making those meetings and things that would regularly be held in person, accessible online and in video form so that people can attend and view them again in the future. They say, do not let the lockdown stop you from organizing the event you had scheduled in the current scenario, chances are people are not going to be paying registration fees so you the save on logistics to hopefully reach a wider audience in the meantime, and that goes for any sort of live streaming of your event. They conclude this article noting that the time is now the handhold customers, clients and employees. We need to help our clients and businesses at large prior by proactively sharing our team's experiences from previous recessions and figure out how to weigh these tough waters that had.

In the final paragraph of this article, they note that trust is becoming the new currency to survive in a work from home economy and marketing is going to open new doors to build trust and credibility to minimize the adverse effects on business during the covet outbreak.

The third interesting article we are looking at today is from iHLS.com talking about video surveillance marketing trends. They note that the global video surveillance market size in 2019 was 42.9 4 billion and is expected to reach 148 billion by 2027 growing at 14.6% from 2020 to 2027. A digital video surveillance system is a surveillance device, recording images and video, and that data can be compressed or transmitted over networks of communications. It also covers the impact of various technologies like artificial intelligence and facial recognition in the digital video surveillance market. According to a report rising policy and stakeholder support for the implementation of smart cities and the use of urban video surveillance technologies has increased in the last quarter.

Several factors are expected to drastically increase the size of the video surveillance market. The first is the growing advancement in the facial recognition technology. They talk about improved facial recognition algorithms. They are increasingly working better off angle, which is non frontal images and lower resolution surveillance video captures is getting better. All of this is expanding the sources of information that can be absorbed and process from this video surveillance technology. This growing implementation of facial recognition is expected to increase the market for video surveillance, marketing size in the immediate future and beyond.

Another factor for the increase in the video surveillance market is the adoption from the government sector for advanced video surveillance. Manufacturers are recognizing the need for optimum IP surveillance systems and there are many advantages about this versus an old analog format. IP surveillance cameras can transmit their video signals over a network allowing for better transmission of the information than an analog signal which was sent to a wireless video recorder. Network video cameras can be wireless and still operate across a network and are used in large department store supermarkets, factories, malls, warehouses and many other public places to keep an eye on activity.

They talk about the growth of the video surveillance industry is also being driven by the growth of the adoption of IP cameras and the increased demand for wireless and spy video cameras. There's a rising need for protection and high-risk regions and increase in the transition from analog video surveillance to IP video cameras and the internet of things converging are going to fuel the growth of the video surveillance industry. In terms of geographic trends, they note that Asia-Pacific has the largest share of the global demand for video surveillance. This is attributed to population growth and the adoption of advanced video security system technologies in the developing countries, and this is cited from a report by Yahoo finance.

The final article we're looking at today from Digital Trends is more of a helpful video tip for you. It's how to edit a zoom recording for free using YouTube, and this is important because obviously there's an increased demand on video conferencing and zoom is one of the most popular video chat programs at this time. They note if you need to make minor video edits to a zoom recording, you don't need a premium video editing software to do it. In fact, you can edit your zoom video recordings for free on YouTube. All you need is an account on YouTube and your zoom video file and they list a couple of different steps of how to easily edit your zoom video recording.

After recording your video, you need to locate that file on your computer. They make a note to make editing your zoom recording on YouTube easier, you first need to know where the video conferencing software saved your video file. If it's the first time recording a meeting on zoom, then zoom is going to create a folder automatically on your computer where the video will be stored. You're most likely going to find the file under a folder named zoom or zoom video recordings and then the sub folder is going to have the meeting Name that you recorded. The video from the sub folder is going to contain three files. The one that you want is named zoom underscore zero. This is your video recording and the one you'll upload to YouTube.

Step number two is going to be to go to youtube.com and to upload your video file. Once you know where the video is saved, you need to navigate over the YouTube and log into your account. From there you can click on the create icon, which is located in the top right corner of the screen. From the menu you need to upload your video file. Click on the blue select files button and choose your zoom video from your computer's explorer. While you are uploading, you need to fill out the details of your video and you can add any other elements if you desire. You're going to be taken to a screen. They'll ask for some basic information about your video, the title of the video, the video description, and any tags or key phrases you want associated with your video. After that, click next. You'll be given an option to add other elements to your video. You can add an end screen or title cards or a bunch of other options.

Step four is going to be to confirm the visibility settings of your video and to save your video onto the platform. You can choose a couple of different video visibility's from public, private, or unlisted. You should choose private. If you want to edit your video without publishing the video onto the streaming site or you want to make it available via a shareable link. Choosing unlisted and makes your video available to watch via a shareable link. You can also choose to schedule when you want your video to go public at a later date. Once you've confirmed your video visibility settings hit the blue save button to save your video. At this point, you'll be taken back to your channel's video dashboard where your newly uploaded video should be waiting for you. To edit your video with YouTube editor, click on your videos thumbnail and select the editor from the left hand side of the menu.

To edit your video in YouTube video editor, you need to select the blue get started button in the lower half of the screen and you're going to be taken to a video editing page for your newly uploaded zoom video recording. YouTube video editor is pretty basic and there are really only two main things you can do, you can trim and you can add blur to your video. To trim your video, which is basically to select the parts you want to leave in or take out, select trim at the lower half of the editor and the blue box is going to surround your video clips. In this box, select the start of the segment you want to remove and then you select the split option from the bottom of the screen. A thicker vertical bar should appear. Select this bar and drag it until you reach the end of the segment you want to remove. You're going to click preview from the bottom of the screen, tap on the video at the top of the screen to view your trim to video. If you're happy with the trim you've made, you can click the save button in the top right corner and that's going to save your video edits. Or you can click the more icon, which is the three vertical dots and choose save as new and that will save your video edits as a new video file and a keep your original video file intact.

To trim the start or end of your video, you should select trim, when the blue box appears drag the opposite sides of the box until it contains only the portion of the video that you would like to keep online. When you click preview, tap on the video at the top of the screen to view your edited video. If you like the changes, click the blue save button or choose save as new and that will give you the same options before we're saving your video file.

You can also add blur. At the bottom of the video editing page. You're going to be taken to another tab which will give you a couple of different blur options. You can blur faces or custom blur and there's a little bit more details about adding video blur onto your uploaded zoom video, if for example, you wanted to block out somebody's face or they didn't give you the rights to use their likeness in the video.

Your final step is going to be to download your edited video and YouTube is going to process your video and then you can download it directly to your computer. To do so, go back to your channel's dashboard. You're going to select videos from the left hand side menu, hover to your chosen video with your mouse, and the three vertical dots should appear. You want to download your video and follow the onscreen prompts to save your finished, edited zoom video recording to your computer.
