#trending in video - August 7, 2020

Good morning and thank you so much for stopping by to check out the #trending in video blog brought to you by Best Made Videos®. We use this video marketing blog to keep you up to date on all of the latest industry news in the world of videography and video production. For some context we are a Seattle based wedding videography and live event videography company and hopefully you can find some value from bookmarking and regularly checking out this video marketing blog.

Today we are looking at another video marketing article from business2community.com and they are talking about all of the different ways that you can improve your Facebook video marketing in the year 2020 and beyond. They acknowledge that marketing with videos on Facebook is a great way to get your message in front of a captive and engaged audience. People as we’ve written about time and time before want video, and they want more of it.

The problem with incorporating video into your digital marketing, is that video can be intimidating, especially if you haven’t tried to tackle it before. That’s the reason why the author of this article is going to break down some useful tips to get the most out of your videos marketing so that you can take your company and brand to the next level.

The first video marketing tip for adding video to your Facebook marketing schedule is to choose the right type of video content to use. They list a bunch of different video types you can try to incorporate such as user-generated video content (we’ve talked about the use of video testimonials in the past), product showcase videos, behind the scenes videos and tutorial videos. Each of these different types of videos is important to consider when developing your video content creation strategy as each of them offers a different sort of value to the audience that you are trying to attract. You should always focus on authenticity when it comes to the videos that you are creating and you should also make sure to add some sort of education or entertainment to the videos that you are offering to your user base.

The second big tip they touch on when it comes to video creation, is to make sure that your videos are formatted correctly for mobile viewing. We’ve written about this numerous times over the last few months of the #trending in video blog, the rise of mobile use and mobile video consumption is at an all time high. 65% of video views on Facebook come from mobile devices, and 94% of users hold their phones vertically, therefore you should really focus at least part of your video content creation onto making vertical videos. The author of this article recommends creating videos in both vertical and landscape orientations in order to target new viewers no matter how they are consuming video content.

The third tip they recommend is to grab the attention of your video viewer in the opening few seconds. When people are scrolling through their newsfeed, the first step or goal of any video content creator should be to get them to stop scrolling. The first 4-6 seconds of your video is critical to hooking the viewer’s attention in an attempt to get them to watch more of your video. Some tips they recommend are asking a question, addressing a problem, or show something unexpected.

Make sure you are including a clear call to action with your view, no matter the format. While some video viewers allow you to add a description with a call to action, your video should be able to exist on its own no matter the platform, so make sure your call to action is embedded in the video itself.

Think about using captions for your videos, not only for search engine optimization and keywords but also to address the issue we talked about before, mobile consumption of video. Since so many users are viewing video content on their phones, most of the time that video is playing without sound unless being toggled by the video viewer. Therefore adding captions to your video is a great way to add value and make your video watchable even if the sound is turned off.

Video length is another important topic to toggle and one that varies in opinion from person to person. The author of this article recommends a video to be anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds in length, which they call bite size and digestible. Although Facebook allows videos up to 240 min in length, your videos should rarely, if ever be that long.

Some other topics this article touches on are looking at a conversion funnel when it comes to turning your customers from a video viewer into a consumer. They also touch on video marketing and ad campaigns as it relates directly to Facebook and using that particular platform. This walkthrough goes into great detail so it might be worthwhile looking at the article directly to get some of that information for yourself.

Overall I think this is a few fun and informative video marketing article as it relates to using video on Facebook specifically. The Facebook platform is great and widely used by today’s audience but some of the specifically of the platform are a little questionable sometimes. As big a platform as it is, I think it’s great that this article took the time to break some some specifics so hopefully you won’t be so overwhelmed the next time to think about incorporating Facebook video into your marketing efforts.

Thanks again for checking out the #trending in video blog, I hope you found some useful video marketing tips that you can incorporate into your own video content creation strategy.
