#trending in video - July 20, 2020

Good morning and welcome to the #trending in video blog by Best Made Videos®. This is our weekly video marketing blog where we scour the internet to find all sorts of fun and interesting trending news in the world of videography and video production. We are a Seattle-based videography company who focuses on filming weddings, live events and more and this is a great resource that even WE use to keep us in check to make sure we are utilizing the latest trending topics in videography.

Today we are looking at an article from Search Engine Journal and they are talking all about how content can be used to drive marketing success. They are brining 5 interesting tips to the table and we will look through all of them to see if we can translate any of their advice to our own Seattle video production company,

They begin by asking if anyone is struggling with marketing and other video marketing success in trying to find traction in an oversaturated marketplace? They are going to offer 5 tips to help gain more traction and find success in the video content and other marketing content you are producing.

The article touches on the fact that many businesses are being forced to “lean down” in the COVID-19 world, finding out what tools they need and what tools they no longer need. The truth is that many audiences aren’t interested in engaging with brands who are trying to market online through video and nobody really has a playbook of how to navigate this new scenario yet. These might be dark times, but there is a light the end of the tunnel.

89% of large companies are cutting down on the budgets of their marketing campaigns with the amount being spent on digital ads falling by almost 17%. These numbers make it clear that we are living in a bad time for marketing, and especially video marketing in general. Should you simply sit by and wait for these lean times to end? No! Instead you need to focus your efforts on go full throttle on your digital video marketing efforts. Just because your competitors aren’t spending money on digital video marketing ads right now doesn’t mean you need to sit by idly as well. You need to think fo less capital intensive ways about growing your brand through video and other marketing efforts, and this article is going to give you 5 tips of how to do that.

Step number 1 is to conduct a content audit about what content you are already producing, what sort of content is working and what content isn’t working. If you’ve been focusing on newsletters as opposed to producing videos, you might need to readjust your efforts to producing video content moving forward. Also make sure you are looking at the quality of the video content you are producing to ensure that it is resonating with your target demographic.

Step number 2 is to go to the video route, if you haven’t already and begin focusing on producing regular high quality video content that speaks of your brand’s goals and messaging. They encourage you not to overthink or complicate things, with almost 50% of consumers admitting they will make a decision upon seeing a video if the video discusses the service or product that they are interested in. Over 80% of video marketers say that using video content gives them a positive return on investment and therefore it makes sense to take the video route when looking for new ways in which to target your audience.

Step number 3 is to create researched content assets, which involves producing content, video or otherwise that places you as an authority on any given subject. That could mean writing blog articles such as this, or creating e-books talking on your product category, anything that can help your target demo view your brand as the authority on whatever they are looking to learn more about.

Step number 4 is similar in nature to step 3 and involves creating extremely relevant video content for the times that we are in. Ask yourself what types of information does my consumer need right now, and is the video content that I’m delivering going to help address those concerns. The video content that you are creating should align with what your consumer is searching for online, which will also help with you online ranking and general visibility on the internet.

Step number 5 is to make sure you are continuing to produce new video content on a regular basis while continuing to experiment with new types of digital content as well. You can also include blogs and infographics with the videos you are producing in order to get the best results. Make sure you share your videos regularly and consistently online in the places that your consumers regularly frequent in order to get the more eyeballs you can on the video content that you are creating.

This was a very interesting video marketing article that we looked at today and there are certainly some great takeaways that we can glean from a video content creator’s perspective. First and foremost, quality content is always going to reign supreme as a way to stand apart from the crowd marketplace of online content creators. The second is to focus on creating your video content regularly and consistently to make sure that the people who are looking for it will always see it, and once they find your video content they won’t have to go looking for it again.

I hope you found some useful video marketing tips that you can utilize whether your are based in Seattle or the greater Pacific Northwest.
