Good morning and welcome to the #trending in video blog, brought to you by Best Made Videos®. We are a wedding videography and live event company based in West Seattle, Washington and we use this weekly video marketing blog to keep you up to date on all of the latest “fun” trends and tools to use in the world of videography and video production.

Today we are looking at an article from cbtnews.com and they are talking all about why video marketing should be in your dealership strategy. While this article is focused on video marketing as it relates to dealerships, many of the lessons and video marketing techniques can be applied to any company, no matter the industry. Whether you are located in Seattle, the greater Pacific Northwest or beyond, my hope is that you can take come of these techniques and apply them to your own video production strategy.

The article begins that many dealerships, as well and other industries, are constantly trying to find new ways to appear to their consumers and to keep them engaged. In recent years, they note that video marketing has become as essential way to connect with consumers both established and new, and is a great way to increase sales as well as SEO on your website. Consumers are continually drawn in by video, especially if the video comes from brands that they purchase from. A recent study notes that over 50% of consumers admit that they would like to see more video from businesses or brands that they support, and therefore it should be your goal as a digital marketer to incorporate more and more video content into your marketing strategy. They list 5 reasons why they feel it is crucial to utilize the power of video.

Video is LITERALLY louder than words. Data from the content creation company Animoto revealed that consumers prefer watching video about a product as opposed to reading an article on it if given the choice. Students consume information differently, and so do your consumers. People are continually digesting information visually and as a result having quality video content in your marketing strategy is a great way to offer value and to strike a chord with your audience. A picture they say might be worth 1000 words, but a video is worth much more.

The article also mentions that if you competitors aren’t utilizing video in their own strategies, they soon will be. Over 80 percent of all businesses surveyed by Hubspot are now using video in their marketing strategy. Additionally the study found that 92% of marketers admit that video was an important part in their overall strategy when it comes to marketing and attracting new consumers. Investing in some sort of video content is simply a necessity nowadays to stay ahead of the trend.

Having video is also going to help your website rank higher on Google for people searching for the type of content that you offer. Video is important for relevancy and therefore video content is factored into the ranking of Google and other online search engines. You can also use keywords in the titles and descriptions of your videos which is also tell google that these videos are more relevant to the search inquiries of various consumers and will let them rank higher as well.

No only is it important to rank on Google, when talking about SEO and search relevance, but it’s also incredibly important to reach new consumers on YouTube as well, which is the world’s second largest search engine. As people type in keywords on questions on Google as way to find the answers, so can be the same for how they interact on YouTube when trying to find out more information. Have a video-rich YouTube page allows you to provide education to your consumers and it will also encourage them to share your videos with their friends and family as well. As it relates specifically to car dealerships, over 60% of consumers admit that they visited a dealer website or the dealership location specifically because they watched a video online. Video is a great way to captivate your audience as nudge them in the direction you want them to go.

Finally video is a great way to grow your bottom line. Companies who use video have reported growth over 49% year over year versus companies who don’t implement video into their marketing strategies. While it is important to grow your fanbase online and get a higher number of “likes” or shares of you video content, ultimately the reason why you are implementing video into your digital marketing strategy is to increase the bottom line and drive sales. Video can increase your ROI and add more transparency and authenticity to your brand and its messaging.

They conclude the article noting that video marketing is where you can really accelerate your marketing to the next level. You can max our your online ad spend budget, and put unlimited hours into Instagram and Twitter and still come up short in trying to attract new buyers. You need to be agile and understand where the marketing trends are headed in this ever-changing landscape. Customers are consuming videos now more than ever before, so you need to make sure you are meeting them where they want to be found.

Finally they recommend using free video editing software to get started in your video content creation and then continue to grow once you have the skills and expertise behind you to take your video production to the next level.
