Forbes.com's article is talking all about 2020 video marketing trends and predictions. The article begins at the popularity of video as an entertainment and an informational conduit is on the rise. Cisco predicted that by 2022 video will make up 82% of all internet traffic. Video therefore has become a marketer's favorite when it comes to producing online content. In fact, according to the author of this video marketing blog, 78% of marketers surveyed believe that the use of video has helped them get new customers.
80% of marketers surveyed found that including a video on the landing page of their website can increase conversions by 80%. The author of this blog has been involved in the video marketing industry for over 10 years, and they have seen how businesses have increasingly adopted video in the various marketing efforts they have and how over the past few years, the consumption of consumer video has evolved. In this article, they are going to share some thoughts about the current state of the video marketing industry and a few predictions about how video consumption might improve in the future.
The first video marketing trend they are talking about is training videos and how they will become more common. 66% of all US employees have worked from home, at least during part of the recent pandemic. The author of the article noticed that many companies have realized the importance of creating various training videos for their staff to use as a substitute for conventional face to face training. Video and other forms of digital content have been involved for years for employee training, however, the current global situation has spurred the increase use of that video content and increased the adoption of its usage. If done well, training videos are an extremely cost effective and efficient way to get around having to do in person training sessions.
Businesses can also use these training videos that they produce over and over again for many years. Because of the increase repeatability, the ability and usage of these videos, the author predicts that we will see more training videos being used in the corporate landscape for years to come. There's a couple of different ways you can experiment with producing training videos, the first is screencasts. Half the employees at the author of this blogs company work remotely, and they've incorporated a bunch of simple screencasts for training new recruits through video. Not everyone at every business is necessarily a video production expert, but you can use screen recording software to create the video content. You can also do interactive training videos by adding forms and multiple choice questions, and this is going to allow the viewer of the video to review what they've learned and hopefully help them retain more information from the video.
The second trending topic they are talking about for video marketers is long form video and how it will continue to thrive. Over the past few years, businesses have seen video as an important part of their marketing strategy, and that number has grown steadily over the last few years. 82% of businesses surveyed are publishing at least one video, if not more each and every month. The popularity of video content online among video marketing experts means the internet is experiencing video content saturation. More now than ever, people are relying on information that comes from trusted resources and if that resource is producing video, then the consumer is more likely to react positively to that
For the best strategy, it's good for businesses that want to create video content and to invest in both short term video content and long form video content. If you're wondering whether or not you should invest in long form video content consider the fact that video streaming is going to become a $70 billion industry by 2021. A lot of the video content that people are streaming on their mobile devices is long form video content. The current landscape that we are all in provides plenty of opportunities for businesses capitalize on the usage of longer form video content, which helps to build trust with the audiences they're trying to reach. You could interview and film, video interviews with key leaders of your organization, or you could produce behind the scenes videos and other video content that will deliver valuable information and hopefully build a connection with you and your audience because of how engaging long form video content can be.
The author of this article suggests that businesses are going to continue to invest in long form video content in hopes of communicating authentically with their audience. Some tips for creating longer quality, some tips for creating quality longer form video content are you should practice social listening. Social listening is a great way to talk to your audience, figure out what they want. You can use the insights from your video audience to tailor your long form video content to their needs. You should also strive to add value with your video content. If you're going to create long form thought provoking leadership videos, make sure you do plenty of research and add value to the conversation with your video.
You should also start your long form video content with a great script. Your video script is going to help lay the foundation for everything that's going to come in your video. Make sure you're thinking the script through and take the time to refine it. If you're going to broadcast your video live, you don't want your stream to feel too scripted. You should prepare an outline for your radio of important points and conversations that you want to have in your video content. The author of this article about video marketing also believes that personalized videos are going to help connect you with your consumers more now than ever before.
Personalization with your videos is a trend to look out for it. A simple way to understand this concept is to imagine receiving a letter or an email from a brand that contains a video that was made seemingly just for you. If you got video content like this, it would make you feel special and it would also pique your interest about the message they're sending. This trend might sound impractical, however, they have seen new technologies emerge that they're making this sort of the video content possible.
