Today, we are looking at three articles. The first is from SmartBrief, the second is from the Atlanta Small Business Network and the third is from Cole of Duty.
The first article from SmartBrief is talking about five new trends in digital marketing that you might have overlooked. The article begins that the digital video marketing landscape is rapidly changing just a few years ago, digital video marketers were pouring their heart and soul into Facebook Organic. Unfortunately Facebook's organic reach proceeded to take a nose dive as the platforms paid, advertising technology became clear. Then the video marketers flocked to lots of new video, social media platforms like Periscope and Snapchat, but soon those channels were replaced with Facebook Live and Instagram stories.
All of the latest rapid shifts illustrate the importance of identifying the right video marketing trends to jump onto. You need to figure out when you can ride the wave as a specific video trend grows in popularity and finding the right video creation strategies can lead to more brand awareness, leads and sales traffic, among other things, in other words, the reason that you do your video marketing in the first place. While many video marketers might be attracted to emerging technologies, such as voice search and advertising on messaging apps, most video marketing budgets simply do not have the room to take chances on these unproven channels. So this article is bringing to you five digital video marketing tips that you can use right now.
The first one is email marketing 2.0, they note that email marketing is not necessarily a new type of marketing tool. In fact, it's one of the original methods that businesses used to reach out to their customers online and stay in touch with them. During the advent of social media video marketing email became uncool and marketers often wondered why would you email people when you can get in front of them where they already hang out, on social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook. In many video marketers thought that email marketing would eventually become obsolete. Fortunately, video email marketing never fell entirely out of fashion and email marketing is making a giant comeback. Two micro-trends are illustrating the surprising return to favor of email, first, there are many email service providers that are constantly entering the market. One of the most successful is CoverKit and this new business has quickly grown to over $1.8 million in monthly revenue. Second, there is a tremendously large amount of growth in the paid newsletter space and this is evidenced by the rapid growth of Substack, which is a platform for folks that runs paid newsletters. As it turns out, people want newsletters from the types of people who curate the best content from pop culture, marketing, business, and fitness, and based on Substack's, rising user base, people that want this kind of information are willing to pay for it.
The second tip is influencer video marketing going niche. According to a recent survey, 93% of video marketers already use influencer marketing. That's largely become because influencer marketing can often bring in a higher return on investment as opposed to traditional search engine optimization, content marketing, or pay per click advertising. However, as many more businesses jump into influencer video marketing the coasts associated with such video marketing is rising. This market saturation is putting a significant dent on influencer marketing's formerly unmatched return on investment. Increasingly brands are ignoring the larger influencers, instead they're seeking micro influencers who are individuals on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, and who have a relatively small following. The advantage of these smaller influencers is that their followers tend to be highly engaged, plus users who follow micro influencers tend to be made up of more specific demographics compared to someone with over 20 million in followers. Video marketers love this specificity as it makes reaching target audiences, much easier.
Chatbots use continues to grow, that's the third item on their video marketing list of trending topics. In fact, one study found that half of all websites are now using a chatbot and the number is growing each and every week. Many customers still prefer the interact with humans, but there is little question that a chatbot is superior in terms of the user experience compared to a regular contact form. Mobile Monkey is a company that is exemplifying the longterm sustainability of the chatbot type of marketing and although they focus on chatbots for Facebook, you can technically use their platform to build chatbots for your own website as well.
Number four, pay per click is becoming largely automated. Using software to help run pay per click campaigns isn't necessarily new Google AdWords came onto the scene and developed programs to help marketers optimize their own video campaigns. What has changed in recent years is the dramatic improvement in machine learning. Over the past few years, the rapid advancement has caused many monotonous pay-per-click related tasks to become a thing of the past. The big reason for this type of adoption is that ad platforms themselves now offer in house optimization tools. Google ad words can now be managed with smart bidding and video marketers can use Facebook's Dynamic Creative to quickly test thousands of ad variations.
Number five on their list is video becoming the default medium YouTube reports that you users watch 1 billion hours of video every single day. That's a staggering number, especially if you take into account the fact that YouTube is only one of many video supported channels that users can look at. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Reddit, all support video content, and many are so quickly transitioning to becoming video first platforms. Video, marketers that learn the skills behind creating, engaging videos, like planning, videos, scripting the videos, lighting, shooting, and editing videos will have a leg up over those that only write text based blog posts.

The second video marketing article today is from the Atlanta Small Business Network. And it's a pretty simple article title, which is "When to call a Professional for your Video Marketing." These are weekly articles brought to you by this organization and they promote small little tidbit sized video tips. The one today is when to have a professional videography company come in and help your company build a video content strategy. They ask, do we have to have a professional video production company come in? And the answer to that question is no, you can definitely use your phones or small cameras to create videos for your businesses. Those types of videos could be live video streams, or maybe some fun behind the scenes videos around the office. But the time to know, when you need to call on the professional video company would be, if it's going to be on your website, if the video is going to be on your website, it needs to be done by a professional. And the video is going to be run on TV, it definitely needs to be done by a professional. If you are going to use your video in some type of social media campaign, you definitely want to have a professional videography company do it so that you have a high quality video content going out there.
That is a short and sweet tidbit of videography news from the Atlanta Small Business Network. And this goes along the lines of recent videography trends we've talked about, which is utilizing in house production for some of your video content and then bringing in a professional videography company for some of your larger productions. This is definitely something that we are seeing as well in the Seattle market.
The third article is talking about 12 common video marketing mistakes you can avoid and this was written by Mark Wood. Marketers in the modern digital age have to be extremely tech savvy and should know all the basics of the new age of video marketing. Video marketing has been an emerging trend as people like to watch the video, as opposed to reading a lengthy blog article. You may be wondering why your videos are not being watched or why the videos you make are not contributing to your marketing goals. You may believe that video marketing is quite straight forward, but there are some things you need to keep in mind to make the most of your video content. Here are 12 common video marketing mistakes that you can avoid.
'Number one, improper arrangement of the source of additional light. They note that lighting is one of the most crucial aspects of any video. It's better to make sure you have ample floodlights in the right direction in order to portray the subject correctly and effectively. The light arrangement for a studio of narration and an outdoor shoot showing the property might be completely different. Insufficient lighting leads to unclear video subjects.
Number two, not considering the beauty while shooting. You need to think of the video from the viewer's perspective. When you are creating the video, it needs to share the subject. Clearly, if it's moving, you need to know where it is moving and most importantly, the background and the overall scenario should showcase your video needs and be pleasant in all respects.
Number three is not keeping the voice in the video audible. Viewers should be able to correlate the scene with audio. If you capture bad audio while shooting your video, you may not be able to pass the message effectively onto your video audience. Using tools like a high definition, microphone is a must to capture clear and crisp voice, and you should have arranged for all of this well in advance of your video shoot.
Number four is not using the right titles and transitions in your video. The titles and transitions in your video should compliment the message you want to convey in your video. Making them too fancy can make them vague or unclear you shouldn't overdo it with your video. It's better to stick to the basics. The text messages in your video should be easy to grasp and understand. This will add to the value of your video content.
Number five is shakes and blurs in your video. Audiences watching your videos should expect informative videos to be free from disturbances and if you capture improper or shaky footage, or how poor editing in your video, it's going to harm the value of your video. It's wise to use an online video maker to avoid these things.
Number six is not including video ads. Audiences may sometimes easily forget what they listen to. So if you could back your message in your video through some graphics, the visual impacts make the message easier to remember, never forget to add some visual aids to your videos in order to explain things better.
Number seven is not working on the script of your video. A script in any sort of video is crucial to the narrative of the message in your sequence. If you do not work on a good script before the shooting of your video, or if you don't necessarily follow along with the while you are shooting your video, you might miss the desired impact on the minds of your audiences, so you want to make sure you spend enough time creating your video script and following that while filming your video.
Number eight is not considering the changing algorithms of video search engine optimization. It's not just the titles, descriptions and tags of your video. Video marketing through popular online video platforms has become much more competitive. You need to understand concepts of video search engine optimization while making your video search engine optimization for your videos will bring you more video views and more profits.
Number nine is not bothering about proper frame rate. The human eye find videos pleasing, if the video camera captures 24 frames per second. That is the standard frame rate, which you should follow for all of your video creation. Faster frame rates are used for slow motion video and for time lapse video, so try to stick to standard frame rate, to create a cinematic video effect in your video.
Number 10 is poor titles of videos. Audiences see the title of your video, and then decide whether to watch the video or not. You want to keep your video titles crisp and catchy to attract a audience. A great video with a poor title may not get the desired views.
Number 11 is lengthy video intros. Keep the intros of your video short and to the point a lengthy introduction is going to distract the audience if they don't get the information they're looking for.
Number 12 is not encouraging your video viewers to take action. If you create a fabulous video and don't call for action, it doesn't generate many leads. Never forget to encourage your video audience to work with you. It may be an appeal to place orders or join your forum or book services. This is going to inspire your video viewer to engage with you as a crucial aspect, to get the most out of your video marketing efforts.
They conclude that video marketing is a tremendous way to advertise your company or brand and these are some common mistakes that you can use to elevate the quality of your video content creation. I certainly agree with all of these and I would recommend anybody in the Seattle market to apply a lot of these videography marketing tips to their own video content creation.
